PMX Anwar Ibrahim's friend, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister Vijay, has a rhetorical way of fighting corruption.
“When someone asks you for a bribe, tell them directly that you won’t give it. I will be with you,” said actor-turned-Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
Even after that, if someone forces you, Vijay told them, tell them: “Our son, our brother, our Vijay is the Chief Minister who is ruling this state," the Hindustan Times reported.
“Tell them very strongly,” he said at the Karur rally last week, drawing loud cheers and applause from the more than 20,000 people in the audience.
“When you are with me, not a single person involved in corruption, taking bribes or misusing power will be able to continue such acts,” Vijay added.
Reassuring the public, Vijay said he stood with them and asked them to firmly say "NO" when asked for a bribe.
Since Vijay’s election as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Vijay has recently taken a stern stand against corruption, saying that in his state, not a single person involved in corruption, taking bribes or misusing power would be allowed to continue such acts.
Vijay urged people to refuse to pay bribes if anyone demanded them.
Vijay made the comments at a rally in Karur. This was the chief minister's first visit to the district after a stampede in 2025 killed over 41 people at his pre-election rally.
Vijay's final film, Jananayagam (picture), before devoting himself fully to politics as Chief Minister, is expected to be released on 23 July 2026.
