Kota Kinabalu: The Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) which confirmed Sabah’s huge problem of illegal immigrants or PTIs revealed beyond doubt a deliberate political agenda now popularly known as “Project IC” by then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said former Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.

He said among all the political problems that Sabah faced at that time in 1985 and before was of illegal immigrants allowed into Sabah by lackadaisical enforcement of immigration laws and the closing of one eye or by tacit encouragement.

”The history of how Sabah people, genuine Malaysian citizens and political parties fought against the onslaught of these illegal immigrants is very well known and documented, last but not least by the RCI hearings conducted in 2014.
