The award staff of State Bank of India will go on a two-day nationwide strike on May 25 and 26 following a call by the federation over several pending demands related to clerical and subordinate employees.
Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, SBI General Secretary Iqbal Singh Malhi alleged that the management had failed to address issues pending for a long time and accused it of ignoring bilateral agreements and settlements.
The union said the established bilateral machinery for resolving employee grievances was no longer functioning satisfactorily, alleging non-implementation of agreements and understandings.
Among the major demands are recruitment of messengers and armed guards, adequate staffing, stopping outsourcing of permanent jobs, inter-circle transfers for employees recruited after 2019, improvement in medical reimbursement schemes, pension-related issues, resolution of HRMS problems, and an end to alleged mis-selling in the name of cross-selling.
