SC Paderborn is in talks to sign Chelsea defender Bashir Humphreys.
The Athletic says the youngster will join on loan until the end of the season. A purchase option will not be part of the deal as the Blues only want the move to act as a development opportunity for Humphreys.
Humphreys has been training regularly with the seniors, recently making his debut in the FA Cup defeat by Manchester City (0-4).
Paderborn's new sports director Benjamin Weber worked under Thomas Tuchel as an analyst at Stamford Bridge. The 39-year-old has taken advantage of his relationship with Chelsea to swoop for Humphreys.
