TuneTalk users beware: the TuneTalk app has seemingly been compromised, with users reportedly getting notifications with the title ‘Double Bitcoins’, asking you to send cryptocurrency to a specific wallet with the promise that they’ll return it back to you with ‘double the amount sent in’.

Needless to say, this is a scam and you should not click on the notification, nor should you actually send your cryptocurrency over to the wallet in the notification.

TuneTalk has since issued a statement over the issue, saying that they are aware of the issue. According to TuneTalk, it’s only the push app notifications has been compromised specifically, with the personal details of users still safe. They’re already investigating the matter, and in the meantime want users to not panic and ignore the message.

This is not the first time we’ve seen this method of hacking into a verified account or channel, and then asking users to send cryptocurrency to a specific wallet with the promise of doubled returns. Back in 2020 for example, multiple high-profile people on Twitter such as Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Joe Biden and more were hacked, and began tweeting out Bitcoin wallets with the same promise of ‘doubling whatever you send to them’.
