
Kota Kinabalu: SCCC recently organised a business investment trip to a well-known seaweed manufacturing plant in Tacloban, Philippines to attract investors to establish seaweed processing plants in Sabah.
SCCC President Datuk Frankie Liew said his Deputy President Brett Chua led the delegation. Joining them were Mdm Redentor Lauddin, chair lady of the Asean Eastern Economic and Commercial Council of the BARMM District of the Philippines and Termizie Masahud, the Director of the Department of Commerce, Investment and Tourism of the BARMM District.
Mdm Rutzel, marketing manager of the company, briefed the delegation collagen processing procedures and operations.
TBK Manufacturing Corporation is the largest local seaweed manufacturer and has obtained the British BRCGS food safety standard.
The trip enabled SCCC to have a better understanding of the procedures and operations of seaweed manufacturing and so as to implement seaweed processing plants in Sabah.
Brett Chua said Sabah could become the centre for seaweed processing due to its geographical location and sufficient infrastructural facilities.
