Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) issued a notice following a scheduled power shutdown operation in several areas this Thursday (Oct 27).
The areas involved are Sipitang, Pitas, Sandakan and Tawau, where over dozens of villages will be affected due to maintenance and repair works on some of the SESB utilities in these districts.
According to the SESB Careline website, the power shutdown for Sipitang is expected to take around six hours from 9am to 3pm, depending on how fast contractors finish their job.
This power shutdown is due to a high voltage upgrading work and the villages affected are Kg Kaban and its surrounding areas.
In Pitas, technicians will be restrengthening low voltage systems among other matters between 9am and 3pm.
The villages involved include Kg Mempakad, Kg Mempakad Darat, Kg Mempakad Laut, Kg Sahabat, Kg Dinai, Mempakad Celcom Tower, Kg Kibubuk, Kg Gailun, Sinanggip Celcom Tower, Kg Sinanggip, Pinapak Celcom Tower, Kg Nunguh, Kg Pinapak, Kg Perupuk and Kg Dowokon.
Other areas like Kg Maliau, Kg Bambangan, Kg Mandurian, Kg Vunoi Lakos, Kg Soniton, Kg Nibang, Kg Seribudaya, SMK Pingan-Pingan, Pump booster Pinggan-Pinggan, Kg Linggisan, Kg Sinogindai, Kg Salimpodon Darat, Kg Mantus, Kg Gudang Limau, Kg Salimpodon Laut, Kg Penampang baru, Menara Maxis Kasagaan, Kg Luntuk and their surrounding villages will also be affected.
In Tawau, the scheduled power shutdown will be from 9am to 6pm, involving villages like Jg Lorong Hj Lassim, Kg Suluk, the Veterinary Department, Kg Blok 31, SK Blok 31 and its surrounding areas.
For Kg Batu 2 Jalan Apas and its surrounding areas, the shutdown is expected to start from 12noon to 4pm and 11am to 3pm at Kg Batu Payung and its surrounding areas to make way for cable installations for new customers.
Kg Ranggu and its surrounding areas will also be affected between 10am and 12noon for new cable installations.
In Sandakan, the shutdown time is estimated to take eight hours between 9am and 5pm to make way for electric supply maintenance works.
The places involved are the BDC Industry, Kompleks Polis Bt 1 ½, Jade Garden, Forestry Flat, Customs Flat, Sg Anib, Good View areas, Grand View up to the Sim-Sim housing and villages., Kuala Gum-gum, Kg Sg Beruang and its surroundings.

Meanwhile, SESB also reported power shutdowns in several areas including Kota Belud, Kota Kinabalu, Kepayan, Kota Marudu, Papar and Labuan on Tuesday (Oct 25) but power supply was restored in stages on the same day.
