THE University of Makati (UMak) confirmed on Friday the discovery of a student’s body on its campus.
In a statement, UMak said it informed the student’s family and friends and coordinated with the police for an investigation.
“Guidance counselors, trained faculty, and staff are available to provide support and psychological first aid to members of the UMak community who may need assistance,” the university said.
It also called on the public and community to respect the privacy of the family and hold off any speculation about the student’s death.
“We kindly ask the community to respect the family’s privacy by refraining from spreading speculative details and by upholding compassion across all platforms,” UMak said.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the student’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” it added.
This incident occurred 15 days after a student fell to her death at De La Salle University along Taft Avenue in Manila on Aug. 13.
