KENINGAU: Deputy Minister of Works Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said projects to upgrade poor schools, especially in Sabah, were not affected following the announcement of the government’s rationalisation of saving measures to help increase the current amount of subsidies.

He said a total of 131 Poor Schools have been entrusted to the Malaysian Public Works Department and Sabah PWD as the Implementing Agency by the Malaysian Ministry of Education with a total cost of upgrading the project of RM1.22 billion.

“The Poor School project is one of the priorities of the Government and the Ministry of Works which provides special benefits for Malaysians,” he said when handing over the new SK Simbuan building to the school’s Headmaster here, recently.
