It is heart-warming that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when tabling the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) at Dewan Rakyat said “A total of RM67 billion will be allocated for education sector under 13MP, including building new schools, repair and upgrade of school buildings, KEMAS kindergartens, facilities & amenities of public higher education institutions. The government is determined to ensure that the enrolment rate of pre-school and secondary school students reaches 98 percent, which is above universal enrolment rate. The quality of education will be improved at international average levels.”

The Prime Minister added, “To improve educational outcomes, the government is moving towards making pre-school compulsory starting at the age of five. At the same time, more preschool facilities in schools managed by the Ministry of Education will be provided, especially in the rural areas. The focus will be given to strengthening STEM education and digital literacy, including AI to produce a generation that is ready for the high-value future job market.”

The issues on this 13MP national education system was the interesting discussions during our family luncheon that my wife, Zarina hosted for her brother, Haji Abdul Salim Ishak & wife, Hajah Mariani Omar with their grand-daughter, Mariesa at Dolly Dim Sum, IOI City Mall. The couple spend the best part of their education days in Europe & United States welcome the government's efforts being more integrated, effective and responsive to future challenges.

Mariani, the former manager at Sime Darby Business School specializing in business communications, said, “In Denmark, empathy is taught as a school subject just like math or science. Imagine if Malaysia did the same, giving kids the tools build more compassionate world. During these lessons, students discuss their emotions, personal struggles, and group dynamics in a safe and supportive environment. Teachers guide the conversations, helping students develop emotional intelligence, active listening skills & conflict resolution strategies. The goal is to foster cooperation, understanding and social harmony.” (childhub.org; www.mother.ly-Life; www.facebook.com>posts
