PETALING JAYA: A furniture factory in Sea Park was completely razed by a major fire.
Thick black smoke from the blaze blanketed the surrounding area and attracted the attention of nearby residents.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department confirmed there were no casualties in the incident.
Assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call at 1.22 pm.
A fire engine from the Damansara station was dispatched and arrived at the scene on Jalan 20/1 within six minutes.
The fire involved a single-storey factory measuring approximately 100 feet by 50 feet.
Firefighting operations were still underway as of the latest report. A total of 34 firefighters from multiple stations were deployed to battle the blaze.
They received assistance from the Petaling Jaya, Jalan Penchala, Puchong and Taman Tun Dr Ismail fire stations.
The operation involved four Fire Rescue Tender vehicles, a water tanker, an Aerial Ladder Platform vehicle and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit.
Members of the public were prevented from getting too close to two nearby petrol stations as a safety precaution.
