THE Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) warned Filipino seafarers and industry stakeholders against maritime training and consultancy centers that are not accredited to offer Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) courses.

Marina named Costa Maritime Training and Assessment in Intramuros, Manila; Sea Eight Maritime Services inn Kalaw, Manila; Train with Qapla Maritime in Kalaw, Manila; and SEA LINK Maritime Services in Taft Avenue, Manila.

“Marina reminds all Filipino seafarers and maritime stakeholders to be vigilant and cautious when dealing with [these training centers]. Transacting with them may result in non-recognition of training, and other possible liabilities,” Marina said in a statement.

It also strongly advised seafarers and maritime stakeholders to deal with and enroll in Marina-accredited Maritime Training Institutions (MTIs) as listed on the official Marina website.
