A screening plant in Nagli-32 village of Yamunanagar district was allegedly found operating despite having been sealed by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB).

Based on a complaint lodged by Vibham Nayak, Assistant Environment Engineer (AEE) with the HSPCB, Yamunanagar, a case was registered against the owners of the plant at Bilaspur police station under Section 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, Section 21(4) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, and Sections 223(a) and 303 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to HSPCB officials, the screening plant had earlier been sealed for alleged violations.

During a recent inspection, officials found that the seal had been tampered with and the plant was operational without the requisite permission.

Following the inspection, Nayak submitted a complaint to the police, alleging that the owners had resumed operations in violation of the sealing order.

Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and initiated an investigation.

HSPCB officials said preliminary findings indicated that the accused had broken the official seal and restarted operations without authorisation.
