- A search operation is underway for a small plane carrying four family members that went missing off the coast of the Bahamas on Monday.
- The five-seater PA-34 Piper was travelling from Great Harbour Cay to Miami Executive Airport when air traffic control lost contact 13 miles west of Andros Island.
- The aircraft was piloted by 80-year-old Mario Lamar, who was travelling with his wife Lily, 79, and their grandchildren Christian Sosa, 22, and Sophie Sosa, 28.
- Flight tracking data indicated that the plane's altitude dropped rapidly from 10,000 feet to 3,700 feet in just three minutes before vanishing.
- Search and rescue efforts co-ordinated by Bahamian authorities and the US Coast Guard have been temporarily suspended due to severe weather in the area.
