Kota Kinabalu: The search for a 40-year-old fisherman feared to have drowned in waters near Pulau Gaya here has been called off after two days.

State Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) said operations will resume upon receiving new leads.

The victim, Omar Ajid, headed out to sea at about 5am on Monday before his boat was found with the engine still running by Kampung Numbak villagers in Menggatal at 10am.

Omar is said to have worn a red long sleeve shirt and green camouflage pants.

In a statement on Thursday, the FRD detailed the search party comprising the Malaysian Maritime Agency, Royal Malaysian Navy, Civil Defence and Sabah Parks.
