Seats sold out or PR stunt? AirAsia CEO takes Thai Airways to Beijing

NETIZENS are debating if a recent move by  AirAsia group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes is a marketing strategy or were seats on AirAsia to Beijing really sold out.

This follows a recent Instagram post by Fernandes saying he was forced to fly Thai Airways to Beijing as all seats on AirAsia were taken.

He wrote, “Continuing my travels. I must fly more than a crew. Onto Beijing on @thaiairways. AirAsia again sold out. Love my tracksuit @danawhite,” accompanied by a selfie from his window seat.

The post has since gone viral and some netizens said Fernandes was doing 'research' on his competitors, while some said it was a PR stunt.

Others labelled it as a smart marketing strategy by Fernandes, claiming all AirAsia flights to Beijing were full. - October 25, 2024
