THE Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will resume operations at its Butuan Extension Office (EO) on June 22, restoring walk-in services for stakeholders in the Caraga region amid an ongoing investigation involving the office’s director.
The SEC on Friday said the unit would reopen for public transactions, including assistance for online company registrations, initial reviews of documents for the Electronic Application for Modification of Entity Data (eAMEND) Portal and the receipt of letters and complaints.
The reopening will ensure uninterrupted service delivery while authorities continue to investigate allegations involving the extension office’s director, the regulator said.
“The SEC remains committed to fostering a robust and transparent business environment in the Caraga region,” SEC Chairman Francis Lim said.
“Reopening the Butuan EO ensures that recent internal disruptions will not affect local entrepreneurs and businesses, who are vital to the growth of our economy,” he added.
Lim said the commission was coordinating with law enforcement agencies and taking steps to strengthen internal controls across its offices.
“We assure the public that the SEC is strengthening all internal protocols to ensure seamless and corruption-free transactions, not just in the Butuan EO but across all its offices in the country.”
The SEC said the move reflected its commitment to maintaining public service while upholding accountability and the rule of law.
