- Two tourists have reported being stung by scorpions at the Silver Sevens Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
- Linda Culler was visiting from Montana in December. “I got up barefooted and walked around the bed and stepped on the scorpion. And I knew immediately, it was on the side of my foot,” she told local news outlet KLAS.
- She said she was unable to walk for two days after suffering swelling and developing a fever, resulting in a hospital visit and a bill exceeding $400.
- It came months after Sulaiman Lutale said he was stung on his arm by a bark scorpion, described as North America's most venomous, during a business trip in May 2025.
- “It doesn’t matter how much you’re spending for a hotel room or an accommodation. It’s got to be safe,” said Brian Virag, a lawyer representing Lutale. The hotel didn’t respond to The Independent’s requests for comment.
