Second suspect remanded in acid attack on spa operator

A SECOND suspect in the acid attack case involving spa operator Nor Faziera Muda has been remanded for seven days beginning today, following a court order issued by Magistrate Tuan Rais Imran Hamid at the Magistrates’ Court.

The 45-year-old man is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which deals with voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

Earlier, police had detained a female factory worker—an acquaintance of the latest suspect—who was remanded for five days in connection with the same incident.

Bachok District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin, confirmed that the male suspect was apprehended last night at a rubber factory in Kuala Krai, the same location where the first suspect was arrested.

“With the arrest of this man, two suspects have now been detained as part of the ongoing investigation,” he said.

The incident, which occurred last Saturday, saw 27-year-old Nor Faziera suffer burns to over 80 per cent of her body. The acid was thrown on her back and right arm, extending up to her elbow. - May 23, 2025
