MANILA, Philippines — A security guard in one of the subdivisions in Las Pinas died during a fight that broke out in the enforcement of a court order that involved a leadershp dispute in its homeowners' association on Wednesday.
This was confirmed by the Privilege Security and Investigation Agency Inc., employer of the guard whose identity has been withheld pending results of an ongoing investigation into the incident inside the BF Resort Village.
“We confirm with deep sadness that a security guard lost his life during the recent enforcement incident at BF Resort Village,” the agency told The Manila Times.
The agency said the guard lost his life during the chaotic standoff that erupted while sheriffs from the Human Settlements Adjudication Commission (HSAC) attempted to implement a writ of execution on the transfer of authority over all association assets and common areas from the incumbent board, led by Euan Rex Torralballa, to the one led by Jose Deo Aguinaldo under the BF Resort Village Talon Homeowners Association Inc. (BFRVTHAI).
Quoting witnesses, Privilege Security claimed the sheriff ordered a group of men to forcibly open the premises despite an appeal from Torralballa for dialogue and peaceful negotiations.
The agency added that the guard fell to the ground during the chaos and was stepped on by a rushing group that forced entry. It called for a full and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
