KOTA KINABALU: Sedafiat Sdn Bhd will modernise and relocate its clinical waste facility in Sabah with support from the Ministry of Health, aiming to improve safety, environmental compliance, and service efficiency.

The company handles 7–8 tonnes of clinical waste daily from hospitals and clinics across Sabah, with volumes projected to grow 5–10 pc annually.

A new 18-tonne daily capacity plant will replace the Lok Kawi facility, with construction starting July 2026 and completion expected by end-2027.

MOH Director-General Datuk Dr Mahathar Abd Wahab commended Sedafiat’s efforts, noting alignment with environmental standards and improved hospital service quality.
