KOTA KINABALU: Executives of Sedco Group have been reminded to see themselves as servants of the public and to reject the “Little Napoleon” mindset that breeds abuse of authority and administrative delays.

Its chairman, Datuk Masiung Banah, said officers at all levels must treat the people as their true employers, urging a hands-on “management by walking around” approach during a visit to Sedco Mining Sdn Bhd at Wisma Perkasa on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by group general manager Datuk  James Wong and briefed by Sedco Mining chief executive officer Shamsul Bahri Johari on the subsidiary’s operations.

Masiung, who began his tenure as Sedco chairman on Monday, said the shift in attitude must extend beyond senior management to frontline staff, warning that misuse of power at any level undermines service delivery.

He added that Sedco Mining remains a key driver of Sabah’s economy, with underperforming subsidiaries to be closely monitored to identify operational weaknesses and restore effectiveness.
