Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco) is stepping up efforts to develop the Kudat Blue Economy Industrial Park (KBEIP) through ongoing engagements with government agencies, industry players, and key stakeholders to align its masterplan with market demand.
The agency recently concluded its second stakeholder workshop involving nearly 20 government agencies and industrial players, following technical meetings, a site inspection, and local authority consultations in Kudat led by Sedco Chairman Datuk Masiung Banah last month.
With the masterplan study progressing ahead of schedule, the State Government has requested its completion by the end of this year to accelerate the creation of the proposed 1,200-acre specialised industrial estate.
Sedco Group General Manager Datuk James Wong said the second workshop aimed to gather practical insights to build an industrial ecosystem that responds to real market needs, creates investment opportunities, and remains relevant to the future direction of the Blue Economy.
The proposed park in Sabah's northern region is envisioned to support marine and coastal resource industries, including fisheries, aquaculture, downstream processing, renewable energy, and maritime solutions, while driving socio-economic growth and positioning the state as a regional Blue Economy hub.
