Sedco strengthens industrial planning under SMJ framework

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco) is continuing groundwork and strategic planning efforts under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Economic Development Framework to strengthen Sabah’s industrial ecosystem.

Sedco recently conducted a strategic working visit to several industrial development agencies and industrial parks in Sarawak to exchange insights, benchmark best practices, and strengthen regional collaboration in support of the proposed SedcoKudat Blue Economy Industrial Park (KBEIP).

The delegation was led by Group General Manager Datuk James Wong and Deputy Group General Manager Haji Azrul, together with the KBEIP team, covering visits to the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda), Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) and Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPH).

Among the key takeaways were the importance of long-term master planning, infrastructure readiness and coordinated government facilitation, as well as the role of integrated industrial clusters, logistics planning, SME participation, workforce development and downstream industries in attracting high-value investments and accelerating economic growth.

Sedco said the visit formed part of broader efforts to ensure KBEIP and other strategic developments in Sabah are planned competitively and holistically in line with the SMJ vision for economic growth, industrialisation, entrepreneurship development, job creation and long-term prosperity.
