Member of Parliament (MP) for Seputeh Teresa Kok has reportedly sent a legal notice to Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh for allegedly twisting her remarks on the proposal to make Halal certificates mandatory for all restaurants that don’t serve pork or alcohol in Malaysia.

This is after Akmal had slammed Teresa for her remarks in a series of social media posts, 1 of which included a video where the Umno Youth Chief urged for a non-Halal sticker to be put onto the ‘old Nyonya’ Teresa’s forehead.

According to a report by Malaysiakini, Teresa today sent a letter of demand (LOD) to Akmal demanding RM25 million in damages for his statement. The LOD also gives 7 working days to Akmal to respond, the expiry of which would result in a civil suit being filed.

Yesterday, as reported by Astro Awani, the Seputeh MP told reporters that she is considering legal action against the Umno Youth Chief’s statement.
