Kota Kinabalu: A Sekolah Indonesia Kota Kinabalu field trip to Karambunai turned tragic when a 12-year-old student drowned while dipping at Kg Bakasan Beach on Tuesday morning.
Rescuers found the boy about 40 metres from the beach at a depth of two metres, said a fire department spokesman.
The boy was pronounced dead by health personnel at the scene and was handed over to the police for further action.
