SHAH ALAM, Feb 21 — Selangor 1000 Digital will be continued this year to empower digital transformation among entrepreneurs in the state, said state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.

He said the initiative is set to tour all nine districts to guide entrepreneurs via various programmes, including exposure to technology, artificial intelligence, and online marketing.

“We will provide training to entrepreneurs so they can learn how to use applications and technology in business.

“Platform Selangor (PLATS) also provides training to entrepreneurs at local authorities statewide, including training simulations, with some entrepreneurs generating around RM100,000 from the simulation,” he said while winding up the motion of thanks on Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s Royal Address, at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.

Najwan said Ramadan bazaars under local authorities’ jurisdiction this year will continue offering cashless payment options to encourage digital transactions.

“God willing, (for) Ramadan bazaars under local authorities’ jurisdiction nationwide, entrepreneurs will provide cashless payment options. We are integrating this effort,” he said.

He added that Selangor is aiming for around 50,000 entrepreneurs to join PLATS over two years, with about 40,000 already involved so far.

In May last year, the state government launched Selangor 1000 Digital to widen digital transformation among local entrepreneurs.

Other than Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), the programme is done in collaboration with the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation, Selangor State Economic Planning Unit, and PLATS.
