SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 - Air quality in six areas of Selangor that previously recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings has gradually improved, with all registering moderate levels as of 8 am today.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Kuala Selangor recorded an API reading of 69, Petaling Jaya 79, Shah Alam 82, Klang 72, Banting 80 and Johan Setia 94.
However, several areas in other states continued to record unhealthy API readings, including Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Sarawak.
In Kuala Lumpur, only Batu Muda remained at an unhealthy level, with a reading of 166, while four areas in Johor also recorded unhealthy readings - Batu Pahat at 143, Kluang 149, Larkin 146 and Pasir Gudang 105.
In Sarawak, at least six areas continued to record unhealthy API readings, namely Samalaju at 164, Bintulu 106, Mukah 153, Sibu 155, Sarikei 194 and Sri Aman 158.
Under the API classification, readings of zero to 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy and 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
