SABAK BERNAM, Aug 22 - Selangor’s dams are capable of sustaining the state’s water supply for up to three months even if current hot and dry conditions persist without rainfall.
Sinar Harian reported that state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato' Izham Hashim assured overall water levels remain under control across the state.
“(The depletion at Sungai Langat Dam) is normal, it happened two months ago as well, but InsyaAllah (God willing), it will fill up again.
“However, other dams (in Selangor) remain above 85 per cent,” he said.
Izham noted that while the Sungai Langat Dam saw a minor drop to around 78 per cent capacity, levels at other major dams remain stable.
The overall water supply resilience will be further supported by light rainfall and alternative sources, including Off River Storage (ORS) systems.
