SHAH ALAM, April 23 — The Selangor government, through the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC), has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Orangeleaf Consulting and Mendix to boost the state’s digital innovation, announced Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Taking to platform X, Amirudin, who witnessed the signing during his state visit to Hannover Messe 2024, one of the world’s largest tradeshows for industrial technology held in Germany, said the partnership will help the state train a high-quality skilled workforce.
“The low-code platform Mendix, owned by Siemens, offers powerful and modern software development tools, revolutionising enterprise application development.
“Unlike traditional coding methods, Mendix uses visual drag-and-drop modules, making it accessible to individuals without coding backgrounds while significantly reducing time to market for innovative solutions.
“Orangeleaf Consulting, a leading low-code innovation consultancy, is poised to play a crucial role in bridging the talent gap by increasing the number of Malaysian developers equipped with low-code proficiency in Mendix.
“Through training programmes, innovation labs, mentoring initiatives, and community engagement efforts, Orangeleaf Consulting aims to cultivate a thriving ecosystem of skilled professionals driving digital transformation initiatives in the state,” he said.
Amirudin’s attendance at the Hannover Messe 2024 is part of his ongoing working visit to Germany.
During the Menteri Besar’s visit, STDC, the state-run technical skills training institute, also recently signed a MoU with KNX Association, a standard-setting body for building automation, along with Seikou Systec Sdn Bhd.
The partnership aims to establish the state as a hub for professional certification in building automation by fostering collaboration with key industry players.
Amirudin began his trip on Friday (April 19) by meeting the Malaysian diaspora in Munich, where he discussed and exchanged ideas with the business community and students pursuing higher education.
In a previous social media post, the Menteri Besar said that during the meeting, he also discussed the efforts taken by the state government via the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) to continue driving economic growth and ensuring the well-being of the people and Selangor.
