PETALING JAYA, Oct 14 — The Selangor government is introducing various initiatives to tackle children-related issues, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
State executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation, Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, said the initiative is under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang and Selangor Economic Stimulus Package.
To elaborate further, he explained due to the pandemic, children are among the vulnerable groups faced with several challenges.
“Issues that have yet to be addressed include aspects involving early childhood care, education, health, communication, and leadership.
“The state government is implementing various programmes to thoroughly address disparities among children,” Dr Fahmi said during the Child-Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI) award ceremony at the Royal Chulan Hotel in Damansara yesterday.
He emphasised the state government’s priority of the well-being and interests of the concerned groups.
“Selangor is known as an advanced state with rapid economic growth, accompanied by an annual increase in its population.
“With its seven million residents, welfare and social development are the main focus of our administration, particularly concerning the needs and well-being of the children,” Dr Fahmi said.
