SHAH ALAM: Selangor may seek legal advice on making public the investigation report into the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion if there is no response from the federal government, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said.
He said he would discuss the matter with the state’s legal adviser to determine whether the report could be released within Selangor’s jurisdiction.
“If there is none, I will discuss with our LA that we can open up to the public as long as it is within our jurisdiction. That is minimum. Local council powers and so on,” he told a press conference after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Smartsel Sdn Bhd and PG LinkaranFibre Sdn Bhd today.
Amirudin said the state government was ready to make the report public but was awaiting a decision from the federal government as the matter involved federal agencies and government-owned subsidiaries.
“We are ready anytime. I’m just waiting for a federal decision from the Cabinet. Is Cabinet allowing us to open it to the public?
“For us, that’s no problem that we can open it because it related with some federal government agencies and government-owned subsidiaries. So definitely it’s not under our jurisdiction,” he said.
Amirudin said Selangor had already notified the federal government on the matter and indicated that the state would decide on its next course of action after Merdeka.
“After Merdeka, we will make decisions. I think notice already sent to the federal government quite some time,” he said.
The report was prepared by an eight-member Independent Committee appointed by the Selangor government to review the investigation into the April 1, 2025, Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion.
Selangor submitted the committee’s report to the federal government in April this year and has been awaiting feedback on its public release.
The committee reviewed and assessed technical reports and findings from agencies involved in investigating the incident, including the police, Fire and Rescue Department and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health.
