TWELVE individuals have been detained to assist investigations into the case of a Form Three male student who reportedly fell from the third floor of a school dormitory in Sabak Bernam on 26 August, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari confirmed.
Speaking at a press conference following the National Day Lecture Ceremony held at the MBSA Convention Centre today, Amirudin stated that police had yet to submit a full report but confirmed the arrests, noting that at least one of the individuals is believed to be directly linked to the incident.
“(The latest development)... Police have not presented the report; we will obtain it from them. I have been informed that 12 individuals have been detained,” he said.
“We are giving the police space to uncover the truth. God willing, the police have assured us that a thorough investigation is underway.”
Amirudin, who also holds the state education and human capital development portfolio, said he had directed Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman Datuk Rizam Ismail, who also serves as the state’s Executive Councillor for Rural Development, Unity and Consumer Affairs, to gather further information regarding the victim’s condition.
“Rizam has already met with the victim’s family and has conveyed that the state government is ready to support any further steps necessary to ensure justice and a comprehensive investigation,” he said.
He added that Selangor Executive Councillor for Public Health, Jamaliah Jamaluddin, would also be in contact with the Selangor State Health Department to monitor the victim’s medical progress.
Earlier reports identified the victim as 15-year-old Ahmad Irfan Ahmad Hanafi, who is currently receiving treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital following the incident last Tuesday. - August 29, 2025
