SHAH ALAM, July 26 — Selangor has been crowned as the most transparent state regarding budgeting in Malaysia, according to a report by the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas).

Menteri Besar Dato Seri’ Amirudin Shari said the think-tank’s report indicated the Selangor budget presented by the state government is easily accessible, detailed, and discussed at length during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sessions.

“Alhamdulillah, the report also recognises the state of Selangor as the state with the highest number of days in session for the State Legislative Assembly.

“This is proof of the thriving democracy in Selangor, countering the recent claims made by the leader of the Opposition,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

To this, Amirudin pledged to improve the available opportunities to maintain the positive momentum.

Ideas’ report on the public openness scores indicated that Selangor shared the top position with Terengganu at 75, followed by Negeri Sembilan (69), Perak (67), Melaka (60), Johor (53), Sarawak (51), Sabah (49), Penang (45), Perlis (27), Kelantan (25), Kedah (18), and Pahang (18).
