Selangor police confirm a viral Hari Raya fundraising message is a scam, warning the public not to donate to the named bank account.

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police have denied any involvement in a viral Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 fundraising event.

The force’s chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar, said a message claiming the event would be held at the Selangor police contingent headquarters hall is false.

The message solicited donations to an MBSB Bank account under the name Norfadilah Md Nor.

“This is a scam attempt to reap profit and tarnish the image of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM),” he said in a statement.

He advised the public not to be deceived and to refrain from making any transactions to the stated account.

Shazeli also urged individuals who have already contributed to come forward and lodge a police report.

“Legal action will be taken against any party found to have misused the department’s name or PDRM’s identity for fraudulent purposes,” he added.
