SELANGOR police have reported progress in the probe into two recent fatal shootings, describing several “positive signs” while stressing that investigations remain active and sensitive.

Commissioner Datuk Shazeli Kahar, speaking at a press conference at the Selangor contingent police headquarters, said authorities are working closely with Bukit Aman, the Royal Malaysian Police headquarters, as operations continue.

“We are working closely with Bukit Aman and operations are still ongoing, hence why I cannot go into exact details,” Comm Shazeli said. “However, what I can say is that these operations have led to positive results and signs.”

When questioned about whether the incidents were linked to the organised crime syndicate known as “Captain Praba,” Comm Shazeli declined to comment further.

The shootings have claimed two lives in recent weeks. On January 4, a man was fatally shot at a restaurant in the Banting area, and three days later, on January 7, another man, aged 43, was killed in Taman Wangsa.

Authorities continue to urge the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the ongoing investigations as they work to resolve the cases. - February 4, 2026
