SHAH ALAM, Sept 24 - All areas in Selangor recorded moderate air quality as of 10am today, with Serian, Sarawak the only area nationwide with a very unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading.
According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, the IPD Serian monitoring station recorded an API reading of 215.
In Selangor, the highest reading was in Johan Setia at 80, followed by Shah Alam (78), Banting (75), Petaling Jaya (74), Kuala Selangor (70) and Klang (69).
Meanwhile, 10 other areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy air quality, namely Kuching (195), Samarahan (188), Bintulu (169), Sri Aman (168), Samalaju (161), Sibu (159), Sarikei (158), Mukah (136), and Miri and Kapit (102).
Bukit Rambai, Melaka, was the only other area across the country with an unhealthy API reading, at 101.
In the Klang Valley, three stations recorded moderate API levels, with Cheras at 81, Batu Muda (72), and Putrajaya (68).
Seven stations nationwide recorded good API readings, with Besut showing the best air quality at 21, followed by Kangar and Langkawi (22), Tanah Merah (29), Alor Setar (39), Temerloh (46) and Pulau pinang (48).
An API reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 301 is hazardous.
