SHAH ALAM, Nov 25 — The Selangor Climate Change Adaptation Centre is expected to commence operations on December 1, said Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
The state executive councillor for environment and public health said the state government approved the setting up of the centre last month with an allocation of RM800,000.
“The state government is in the process of forming the necessary positions to implement this adaptation centre.
“We anticipate it will become operational soon after the launch of the Selangor Climate Change Policy today,” she said at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting, here today.
Jamaliah said currently, four officers will be appointed to manage and coordinate the centre’s operations, focusing on policies, systems, and state government programmes related to environmental protection, climate change, and green technology.
The Selangor Climate Change Adaptation is set up as the state government looks to pay more serious attention to the existential threat.
The centre aims to develop strategic measures to address the climate change issue.
It will also primarily focus on nine key sectors, including water sources, agriculture, health, land use, waste management, and transportation.
