The Selangor government, led by state executive councillor Anfaal Saari, is steadfast in its commitment to ensuring women receive the same opportunities as men. Recognizing women's significant contributions to the economy, the state is dedicated to empowering them further through initiatives like the Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) organization.
WBS has launched the Lifelong Learning Programme, a scholarship designed to support women in furthering their education. This initiative aims to equip women with the knowledge and skills needed for the future, aligning with the Dasar Wanita Selangor’s (Selangor Women Policy) vision.
Speaking on RTM’s Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme, Anfaal Saari emphasized the importance of social inclusivity, particularly for vulnerable groups like single mothers and housewives. She is committed to implementing the state government's initiatives to ensure Selangor becomes a prosperous and sustainable state for all.
An event organized by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) in conjunction with International Women's Day will further promote women's empowerment. The event, to be held at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Public Park, will feature various activities including a 3km fun walk, a car-free day programme, decorative gardening, and a forum.
MPAJ president Ani Ahmad also shared plans to empower women at the local authority's level. This includes developing a five-year strategic plan focusing on enhancing women's financial literacy, health, and economic opportunities.
Furthermore, MPAJ is committed to granting women equal rights to key positions and management roles within the council. Presently, approximately 26 per cent of MPAJ's councillors are women, a figure that reflects the council's dedication to gender equality.
In support of these initiatives, MPAJ has allocated RM50,000 to organize programmes and activities aimed at empowering women at the state level. These efforts underscore Selangor's unwavering commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment.
Through these concerted efforts, Selangor is paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable society, where women are given the tools and opportunities to thrive. By investing in women's education, health, and economic empowerment, the state is not only ensuring a brighter future for its female population but also strengthening its economy and society as a whole.
As Selangor continues on its path towards progress and prosperity, it serves as a shining example of what can be achieved when women are given the support they need to succeed. With initiatives like the WBS and MPAJ's strategic plan, the state is creating a more inclusive and empowering environment for women, one where their voices are heard, their contributions are valued, and their rights are upheld.
As we celebrate International Women's Day, let us take inspiration from Selangor's efforts and rededicate ourselves to the cause of gender equality and women's empowerment. Together, we can build a more just and equitable world for all.
Let us honor the women of Selangor and around the world who have played pivotal roles in shaping our societies and economies. Let us pledge to support and uplift them, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to achieve their full potential.
As we look to the future, let us strive to create a world where every woman and girl is empowered to pursue her dreams and aspirations. Let us work together to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and build a more inclusive and equal society for all.
Selangor's commitment to women's empowerment is a testament to the power of collective action and the belief that when women are empowered, communities and nations thrive. Let us join hands in this noble endeavor and create a brighter, more equitable future for all.
Together, let us continue to push for progress and equality, not just on International Women's Day, but every day. Let us advocate for policies that support women's rights and create opportunities for their advancement. Let us celebrate the achievements of women in Selangor and beyond, and strive to build a world where gender equality is not just a goal, but a reality.
As we reflect on the achievements of women in Selangor and around the world, let us also recognize that there is still much work to be done. Let us commit ourselves to the cause of gender equality and women's empowerment, and work towards a future where every woman and girl can live a life of dignity, freedom, and equality.
In the words of Anfaal Saari, let us "invest in women and provide them with access to jobs, education, and healthcare," for they are key contributors to Selangor's economy and society. Together, let us build a world where women are not just beneficiaries of progress, but active participants and leaders in shaping a better future for all.
