SHAH ALAM, May 31 – The state’s free health screening programme Selangor Saring has recorded a total number of 22,767 participants since it was first introduced last year.

According to an infographic shared by state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, the programme achieved the highest number of participants for a community-led health screening campaign in Malaysia.

The infographic showed that the three age groups with the highest participation are ages 31 to 45, 46 to 64, and 65 and above.

The three age groups make up 78 per cent of the total participants, which aligns with the state’s objective to screen high-risk individuals.

“Selangor Saring is a community health screening programme with the highest participation rate in Malaysia. The attendance stands at 22,767 participants, equivalent to 68.36 per cent.

“Join the Selangor Saring programme to assess your health status. The free screening is worth up to RM3,000,” said Dr Siti Mariah in a Facebook post, today.

The free health screening programme is one of the six initiatives introduced by the state government for the people of Selangor.

A total of RM3.4 million is allocated for the initiative, targeting individuals with a family medical history, obese, or who leading an unhealthy lifestyle.
