
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah accepted business tithe contributions from six companies at a breaking of fast ceremony, with Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor leading the donations.
SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, received RM11.47 million in business zakat contributions from six corporate entities yesterday.
The contributions were presented at the Selangor Sultan’s breaking of fast event and Hari Raya Aidilfitri contribution presentation ceremony for 1447H held at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque.
Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad led the list of contributors with RM3.46 million. It was followed by Rafulin Sdn Bhd with RM2.45 million and Kumpulan Worldwide Holdings Berhad with RM2 million.
Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad contributed RM1.26 million, while Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) gave RM1.21 million. Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd contributed RM1.09 million.
Sultan Sharafuddin also received corporate waqf contributions via mock cheques. Klinik Mata Wakaf Selangor presented RM419,000 to Management and Science University (MSU).
Public Islamic Bank Berhad and the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) contributed RM1 million and RM50,000 respectively.
Earlier at the event, Sultan Sharafuddin presented Hari Raya Aidilfitri contributions to 501 asnaf. The recipients comprised 200 hardcore poor, 241 poor, and 60 Muslim converts, involving a total allocation of RM250,500.
His Royal Highness later broke fast and performed the Isyak and tarawih prayers with thousands of congregants. Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzil Ahmad Tajuddin and Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin.
The event was also graced by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, and Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah. They arrived at the mosque at 6.15 pm.
Other dignitaries in attendance included State Islamic Affairs and Cultural Innovation Committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, Selangor Mufti Datuk Dr Opir Anhar and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.
