The Red Giants aim to maintain momentum and close gap on JDT against the Northern side opponent.

SELANGOR FC are determined to maintain their impressive form and keep pace with league leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) when they face Star City tomorrow.

The Red Giants, however, know they cannot afford to take their opponents lightly, having already experienced the threat Star City pose after suffering a 3-2 defeat in the second leg of their FA Cup quarterfinal at home in October.

Selangor head coach Kim Pan Gon acknowledged that Star City are an attack-minded side, but said his players were better prepared this time around after learning from their previous encounter.

“Star City, as we know, are a very attacking team, so we have prepared for this. We have experience playing against them at home, so I think the players know what to expect.

“We also know what went wrong previously, and we have worked to address those problems,” he said.

Kim said Selangor were now focused on delivering a stronger performance and securing all three points to maintain their position in the league standings.

“This Sunday, we want to put up a good game, deliver a better performance and get a result so that we can stay in the race at the top of the league table,” he added.

Selangor currently occupy second place in the Super League standings with 15 points from five matches, three points behind leaders JDT, who have played one game more.

Star City, meanwhile, are ninth with five points from as many matches, having recorded one win, two draws and two defeats.

Selangor will take on Star City in the Malaysia Super League on Sunday, Nov 1, with kick-off scheduled for 9pm at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya.
