SANDAKAN: The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Sandakan Branch, in collaboration with the Construction Research Institute of Malaysia (CREAM), will be organising a seminar on 25 September at the Pavilion Hotel Sandakan to highlight the importance of the Contractor’s Quality Management System (CQMS) in elevating construction standards across Malaysia.

Seats are limited, and early registration is encouraged.

The Contractor’s Quality Management System, or CQMS, is a structured approach that ensures contractors deliver projects that meet the required quality benchmarks.

Recognised by CIDB Malaysia as part of the SCORE/MCORE assessment, the system is designed to strengthen quality management practices and drive excellence in the local construction industry.

Unlike conventional certification systems, CQMS offers a more cost-effective and practical alternative to ISO 9001. It is tailored specifically for Malaysian contractors and is built on the requirements of CIS 29.

With its emphasis on affordability, efficiency and convenience, CQMS provides contractors with a streamlined path to quality management certification.

The benefits of implementing CQMS are wide-ranging. Contractors can reduce costly rework and prevent recurring quality issues, which translates into significant cost savings.

Standardised processes also help projects stay on schedule, while consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes enhances the contractor’s reputation within the industry.

By adopting the system, contractors can improve project performance, ensure compliance with the latest quality standards, and guarantee consistent outcomes that meet client expectations.

“This initiative is not only about compliance, but about fostering a culture of quality and professionalism within the industry.

“Contractors who adopt CQMS demonstrate their commitment to delivering work that stands the test of time and contributes positively to Malaysia’s construction sector.” said Chief Executive Officer CREAM, Ir M. Ramuseren.

Interested contractors can contact CREAM at 03-27791479, email marketing@cream.my or WhatsApp 013-8697479 for further details and registration.
