SEMPORNA: The district, here, which is likened to the main entrance of the marine park area, has the potential to be developed as a world tourism hub.
State Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said the beauty of the island here is amazing and comparable to foreign tourist destinations such as the Maldives, Mauritius, Hawaii and so on.
Therefore, he said, the development of Semporna district should be mobilised and managed well and professionally in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan which makes the tourism industry one of the core sectors of economic development apart from agriculture and industry.
