MANILA, Philippines — Filipino P-pop group SB19 will visit the Senate on Monday to receive an adopted Senate resolution recognizing their historic performance at the Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago, Illinois.
The “Kings of P-pop” are scheduled to appear at the Senate at 3 p.m. to receive the recognition under Senate Resolution No. 545, filed by Sen. Bam Aquino.
Aquino’s resolution commended SB19 for becoming the first Filipino group to perform at the annual music festival, held on July 30, 2026, at Grand Park in Chicago.
In filing the resolution, Aquino said SB19’s achievement represents not only a milestone for original Pilipino music (OPM) but also an inspiration to Filipinos aspiring to showcase their talent on the global stage.
He also called for continued support for local artists and reforms to further strengthen the country’s creative economy.
“As the first Filipino group to take the stage at one of the biggest and most prestigious music festivals in the world, they once again proved that Filipino talent and music can hold their own on the global stage,” Aquino said.
Composed of Pablo, Stell, Justin, Josh and Ken, SB19 performed a 48-minute set on the Allianz stage, featuring several of their hit songs.
The group performed “Dungka,” “Dam” and “Gento,” as well as the ballads “Mapa” and “Wakas.”
SB19 also introduced two new songs, “Lawless” and “Emoji,” a collaboration with Taiwanese singer Jolin.
The group also teased its cover of Filipino rapper Francis M.’s classic song “Mga Kababayan,” which is featured in the soundtrack of DreamWorks’ Filipino animated film “Forgotten Island.”
SB19 closed its set with “Crimzone,” drawing an enthusiastic response from the crowd.
“We never imagined we’d one day perform on a global stage and represent the Philippines. Yesterday was proof that dreams grow bigger when you believe in yourself and the people who believe in you. This win isn’t just for us. It’s for everyone who believed in us,” the group said in a social media post.
In July, the Department of Tourism unveiled SB19 as Philippine tourism ambassadors. The group shares the role with fellow P-pop sensation BINI.
