MANILA, Philippines—The Senate will resume regular session on Monday, January 26, with several bills lined up for final reading, including the establishment of the Classroom-Building Acceleration Program (CAP).

The Senate adjourned on Dec. 30, 2025 after it passed the P6.793 trillion national budget measure. It ratified the 2026 General Appropriations Bill on Dec. 29.

"For the week (Jan. 26 to 28), we have a full calendar lined up, with priority measures on third reading, several key bills for amendments and interpellation," Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said in a text message.

The senator said there were also "items being readied for sponsorship once committee reports are filed."

Senate Bill (SB)1482 aims to establish CAP under the Department of Education. It authorizes local government units and civil society organizations to undertake classroom construction projects.

Also scheduled for third and final reading were SB 1513 which seeks to create the national health program against systemic Lupus Erythematosus) and SB 1510 or the national health service outreach program for senior citizens and indigent persons with disabilities.

Scheduled for amendment was SB 1509 creating the Philippine Geriatric Center.

For sponsorship, subject to filing of committee reports, are the proposed safe pathways network for active transport, Bank Secrecy Act amendments, and regulating debt collection practices.
