BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Senators are discussing possible sanctions that may be imposed on Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa who has not been seen at the Senate since November last year following rumors that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued a warrant for his arrest over his supposed involvement in the bloody drug war waged when Rodrigo Duterte was president.
“Right now, we are talking about what action to take in the case of Sen. Dela Rosa but no consensus has been arrived at yet,” Lacson said at the sidelines of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Homecoming 2026 at Fort del Pilar in this city on Saturday (February 21).
Lacson said that the Senate has no plenary rules on absences but this could constitute removal of committee membership.
He said former senator Antonio Trillanes is planning to file an ethics complaint against Dela Rosa.
The ICC last week named dela Rosa, Sen. Bong Go and former Justice secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II as Duterte’s co-perpetrators in the drug war killings.
