Senior citizen killed in three-vehicle crash on Johor highway

A 73-year-old motorcyclist died after a collision with two cars on Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang. A 69-year-old driver sustained minor injuries

JOHOR BAHRU: A 73-year-old man was killed in a three-vehicle collision on Jalan Kota Tinggi–Kluang yesterday.

The accident occurred at about 6.10am at Kilometre 4.8 of the highway.

Kota Tinggi district police chief Supt. Yusof Othman said the crash involved a Yamaha LC135 motorcycle, a Proton Saga, and a Proton X50.

He stated the motorcyclist is believed to have entered the opposite lane before the collision.

“As a result of the incident, the motorcycle involved collided with two cars, one on the opposite lane and the other on the same lane as the motorcycle,” Yusof said in a statement.

The victim sustained serious head injuries in the crash.

He was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru.

The 69-year-old driver of the Proton Saga suffered minor injuries.

The 22-year-old driver of the Proton X50 was not hurt in the incident.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernam
