The historical day is here and today (November 19), Malaysians are excited to do their part in the attempt to change the fate of the country, in hope that a better government will serve its people and help whenever necessary.

Long queue during the election is inevitable, especially if you’re among the early birds. But there is definitely something that we can do to ease the process for the senior citizen voters. Just this morning, Berita Harian took to their Twitter page and shared a clip of a group of voters, who are mostly senior citizens losing their patience after being in line for a long time.

To stand and wait in line for hours may be bearable to youngsters like us, but it can definitely be physically and mentally harmful for the elderly.

One of the voters can be heard shouting, “We’re tired of standing! We’re old!”

The minor chaos happened at the polling center at a school in Taman Maluri, KL. The clip has received the attention of fellow Malaysians, and many of them decided to weigh in and expressed how the process could’ve been eased.

“Ease the voting process. Check the names and the IC just once, you don’t have to repeat the steps 4 to 5 times. Speed up the process.”

“They should’ve opened more channels since there are so many classrooms. Pity the senior citizens, of course they’ll get mad.”

“Be smart. Put more chairs out there. It’s a school, so they should have plenty of chairs. You don’t have to put too many, just enough for people to sit for a while. 15th GE and you’re still not that smart.”

“SPR should’ve looked further into this matter. The same thing happened at my voting center.”

“Why not use the new voting system? This is too slow. If the young ones can’t even bear to stand that long, what about the old ones?”

Fellow Malaysian voters, how long did you spend waiting in line this morning? Aside from the long queue, what else did you find troublesome during the voting process?
