- The guilty plea stems from a probe by House Republicans into the origins of the pandemic, which scrutinised Morens' email communications.
- Morens faces a maximum prison sentence of five years and is scheduled to be sentenced on 12 November by US District Judge Paula Xinis.
- Dr Anthony Fauci has not been charged in connection with the case against his former senior colleague.
